2020 Goal Trackers

I love the new year.  Its a fresh start.  A time to reflect and improve.  I really love setting goals.  I'm not so great at accomplishing those goals and should probably not mention that I have had the same goals for the last 5 years-maybe some of you can relate haha.  Maybe this will be my year :)  For me the benefit of a goal is the process and the small changes that happen as I work towards each goal.  This year I have some pretty big goals in mind and I can't wait to see where they take me.  Its always a good idea to write your goals down.  Be specific and try and make it something you can measure.  I created a few free printables to help you keep track of your goals.

First are these gorgeous goal sheets where you can record your goals.  They are pretty enough to hang where you can see them daily.

Next is a daily tracker.  This may not work for all goals but it really helps to track your progress.  Also great for developing or breaking habits.  Maybe your goal is to workout for 20 minutes a day.  You may miss a few here or there BUT with this tracker you can see how many days you actually did work towards your goal.  This is also a great way to break down some of those bigger goals you may have.  Lets use getting into shape as an example (seems to be a common one) you may have your daily workout as one goal, drinking water as a goal, eating veggies daily, etc.  Do what works for you.

This next goal tracker goes with the new youth program.  They are asked to choose goals from the following areas. I have two daughters that are now in Young Womens and I'm over the younger girls (7-11 year olds) so I plan to join in and create goals based on these four areas as well.  There are several designs to choose from and if you need additional ones please let me know :)

I would love to know what some of your goals are for the year.  Do you set New Years Resolutions?  Do you pick one word for the year or do you set regular goals?

Happy New Year!

Come Follow Me: Revelations 12-22 (December 23-29)

This week we are going to talk about the 2nd coming using Revelation 19:7.  The primary manual has some great ways to introduce the topic.  I love the idea of talking about ways we get ready for church on Sunday.  I plan to use props that we pull out of a bag.  It's always fun to have one person come to the front of the room and "get them ready" to go to church.  For example bring a dress or tie and put it on the person.  Bring a brush and have them pretend to brush their hair.  There are several things you can bring.  Then ask why do we do these things before we come to church?  Lead the conversation towards why we need to prepare for the Second Coming.

With Christmas in a few days I have been crazy busy but luckily I already had some really fun things put together for this topic that I plan to use.

In this one there is a 2nd Coming review game, journal/coloring page and my favorite oil lamp game (This is what we plan to do).  Found here

You can also find this game and a printable here

Thanks for being patience with me during this busy time of year.  My goal for next year is to get this post out on Friday like I use to!  I love the New Year as it gives me that push I need to change, grow, and restart.  With that being said what are something you would like to see from me?  What types resources would be helpful?  Thanks for making this year so special and for joining me as we learned more about the Savior by studying the New Testament.

Come Follow Me: Christmas (December 16-22)

Hello and I hope you are having a happy Sunday.  Can you believe Christmas is just over a week away!  This week I have some fun ideas that go with this week's Come Follow Me lesson.  All of these ideas came from or were inspired by activities in the primary manual.  These are perfect for families or primary classes.

First we are going to illustrate our own Christmas book.  This goes right along with the video linked in the primary manual.  Your kids can follow along with the video or as you read the verses.  They can then draw the different scenes to create their very own special book.  Print full size or 2 to a page if you would like it smaller.
“Christmas is not only a celebration of how Jesus came into the world but also of knowing who He is—our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ—and of why He came” -Craig C. Christensen.  I loved the suggestion to discuss why Jesus came to earth and some of the things he did while he was here.  Hang the poster on the wall then add or show different acts of the Savior while he was on earth.  There is also a journal page to write or draw some of these things.

For the older kids I included a word search with some of the names of Christ.  I also included this free printable.

Another idea is to sing your favorite Christmas songs.  I created some cute cards that can be placed in a bowl for the kids to pick a song.  All are from the primary song book.

I have some additional resources from previous lessons

Found Here

and Here There are some fun games like find the star and my gift to Christ activities.

Videos are always a great option.  Here are a few of my favorites:

Special Witnesses of Christ – Elder Ulisses Soares

We always watch this adorable movie from Liken.  They had a few of their movies free on amazon prime but unfortunately this one isn't.  This is one of my kids favorite Christmas movies!  I love that in includes the story of Elisabeth and Zacharias as well. (*Note this is an affiliate link meaning I make a small commission at no extra cost to you but it is one we personally own and love)

That's all for this week.  If you have any questions or trouble with the download please let me know.  Thanks for stopping by!

Come Follow Me: Revelations 1-11 (December 9-15

This week we are going to talk about Revelations 3:20 and what it means to open the door or our heart to the Savior.  I love, love, love this image of the Savior waiting for us to let him into our hearts and life.

I have a couple of ideas for you to introduce this topic.

The first two involve this printable. You will need to print it out and

this page.
Carefully cut the top and bottom of the door and the right side (by the handle).  This will allow the door to open.  After you do this to all 8 doors you are going to place the page with the letters directly behind it and tape or glue together.  The idea is to have the door open and reveal the letter or heart so make sure you do not glue the doors shut :)

This is from a different game but same idea and will hopefully give you a visual on how to make it.

You will also need one of the following games.
But first lets decide on a game
Option one Match game: print 2 copies of the heart page on cardstock or back with construction paper.  When you find a match open the same color door.  As you find matches you will discover letters that will help you find out who is knocking on the door. (It spells Jesus)

*Tired of match games? Print just one page of hearts and hide them around the room.  When a color is found open the door.

Option 2 Board Game: Again we are going to find out who is knocking on the door but this time compete in a fun board game.  You'll need a game piece for each player (or teams).  I like to use buttons, pom poms, or pieces from a different game.  You will also need 1 dice.  On your turn roll the dice and move the number of spaces.  If you land on a heart you get to open one of the doors.  Everyone is working together to open all of the doors before someone reaches the OR if you haven't opened all the doors before someone makes it to the end that person get to guess first who they think is at the door.

If you have older kids and want to make it more of a competition or talk more about ways to let Christ in while playing then use this board instead of the letters.  If a player lands on a heart they get to pick a door and move that many extra spaces but first they need to share a way they can "open the door" for the Savior.

Show the picture of the Savior at the door (found here) Then share one of the following quotes and discuss how you can invite the Savior into your life.

This video would be a great video to share.

There is also a cute coloring activity at the end of the Primary manual that fits this perfectly or I have this one :)  The sample is in the middle.  The idea is to write ways you open the door to the Savior.  Oh and the door opens! Cut around the door. Fold the flap backwards and glue to the main page.

That's everything for this week.  Please let me know if you have any questions or trouble with the download.

**To be super honest I have struggled with these chapters and thought maybe some of you might as well.  Because of this I am open to requests for additional resources this week.  I recognize there may be topics in these chapters that you want to cover with your family or primary class this week and I would love to help you simplify it for your kids.  If you are needing something please email me with your ideas (specific visuals, a game, etc-not just a topic please) and I will accommodate the very best I can. Another option is to use the search bar!  There is almost a years worth of Come Follow Me resources and most have covered several topics so there is a chance you might find something that works (plan of salvation and the atonement come to mind). If you need some help with this please ask and I'll check for those links for you.  I'll add any additional helps to this page and download :)  I am so grateful for all of you taking the time to stop by my little blog.  It really means so much to me and I appreciate your patient with me.  I love doing all of this because of you :)

Come Follow Me: 1-3 John, Jude (December 2-8)

My internet is down and we just got back from a trip last night so I will be back to update this post with a few printables :)  I did want to give you a few ideas and let you know what we are doing this week.  First we are going to introduce our family to this years Light the World and show video on the page.  Then read part of the intro in this week's individual and family manual where it talks about light and love.  Together we are going to plan a few service activities our family would like to do this month.
Also I have this whole post full of fun ways that teach about loving others.  I'll be using the tic tac toe game.

That is all I have for you right now :)  Hopefully this helps and our internet is back on soon.

Edit: For those of you with younger kids check out this post form A Year of FHE.  She creates a kid friendly calendar with service ideas for the month that go with the Light the World calendar the church puts out.  We use it every year!

Come Follow Me: 1 & 2 Peter (November 25-December 1)

I'm sorry I am late again!  I'll get it together one of these weeks :)  This week we are covering 1 Peter and 2 Peter.  I chose to focus on 1 Peter 1:6–73:14 with the topic of I can find joy and peace even during hard times. With Thanksgiving this week what better way to teach that having an attitude of gratitude helps us find joy even when things aren't going perfect.  President Nelson taught “When the focus of our lives is on … Jesus Christ and His gospel, we can feel joy regardless of what is happening—or not happening—in our lives. Joy comes from and because of Him.”

There are several ways we can feel joy and peace during hard times.  I loved the suggestions in the manuals to share some of the hard things the Savior or Joseph Smith went through.  Peter or Nephi would also be great examples.  You can use these pages as a journal or write some ideas your family comes up with and display for the week.

Another idea I had is to sing or listen to the song "count your blessings."  Then play one or all of the following games.
The first is a quick ABC game.  Print and pass one of the following pages out to each person (or teams if you have young children).  Quickly write one thing you are thankful for for each letter of the alphabet.  Then share your lists.  A twist on this game would be to sit in a circle and the first person starts by saying I'm thankful for (a word that starts with A), then the next person says I'm thank for (the first person's word), and (a word that starts with B).  Continue around the circle through the whole alphabet!  It similar to that game I'm going on a trip and I'm going to take a.... I'm not sure if you've played that game before.
The final game is one of our favorites.  Roll a turkey.  You'll need a turkey and feathers for each person. Cut out the pieces.  If you want to save ink you can draw each turkey piece as you roll.  The first person will roll the dice.  If they get a 4 they get the feather with the 4 but they have to say something they are thankful for.  The turkey is #1.  If they already have rolled that number they say another thing they are thankful for but do not get to take another piece.  The first person to  get all 6 pieces wins.  If you want you can have them glue their turkeys together and draw or write something they are thankful for on each feather.

I really love this video from President Monson and it goes really great with this theme.

That's all for this week.  I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.  As always if you have any questions or trouble with the download please let me know.  This was a quick write up so I'm sure there are some confusing instructions :) We will be busy with family this week but I'll try and hop on but email is probably best!

5 Gratitude Activities for Kids (+Free Printables)

This time of year, it’s easy to remember to be thankful. From supportive family and friends
to a roof over your head, we can find something each day that is special. Did you know it’s been
scientifically proven that practicing gratitude makes you happier? Why not do it more often then?

Teaching your kids gratitude is a great way to grow closer together and raise happy, positive-thinkers.
Ultimately though, it starts with you setting a good example for them to follow. It can be hard to be grateful when we have a tough day, but remember that even the little moments are a blessing. Show your children that there is a lot to be thankful for—both big and small.

To help practice gratitude, check out these five gratitude printables from Bestow that feature games
and activities for your family. These can be done year-round to inspire some positivity.

Gratitude Tree

Thank You Notes

Gratitude Jar

Gratitude Scavenger Hunt

Gratitude Yoga Flow

Set aside some time with your kids to write down the things you’re thankful for or go on a fun
photo scavenger hunt to capture the memories. No matter how you show it, find ways to
appreciate life’s little moments. What are you thankful for today?

Free Turkey Color Games

We are focusing on colors this week and these adorable turkeys make learning so much fun.  I have three game options and a couple of additional ideas for you.

The I spy hunts are always a favorite!  I also love to get the most out of my printables as I can that is why I plan to have my kids find the turkeys.  Identify the color, match it to the recording sheet and then "feed" the turkeys pom poms or buttons.  You can also add a dice to get in some counting as well.  So many options with this set.  I love it.
How cute are these turkeys :) If you have really little ones you do not need to use all of the cards.  I sometimes put out 4 to 6 for my little one and then add more colors as we go.

Normally I add the free download right here but I decided to try something new.  I just opened a Teacher Pay Teacher store and have added this download for free in my store.  You do need to sign up for a free account but it is totally worth it!  You will find tons of amazing activities and this is where I get all of my adorable clip art.  There are lots of free options as well as paid.  Anyway head over to my new shop and grab your free printable turkey game :)

*I have not decided if I am going to start posting all of my preschool printables over there or keep some here.  It will probably be a mix.  All of the Come Follow Me lesson helps will stay on my website.

Come Follow Me: James (November 18-24)

These week we are covering James.  I knew I wanted to talk about James 1:5 and the First Vision.  More specifically we are going to talk about receiving answers and acting on those answers.  There are several topics this week and many of them we have covered before.  If you are needing one of these other topics use the search bar on my website and there may be a few ideas.  These lesson helps can be used for FHE or primary class.

Start by reading the scripture together.  Discuss what it means and if they have heard this scripture before.

Next I plan to watch one of the following videos.
The first is a clip of the first vision (towards the bottom of the page) OR if you have more time you can find the full movie here.  I also found it free on Amazon prime-I like this option so we can watch it on our tv.
I plan to use the full movie and watch it tonight with some popcorn.  The reason why I am choosing to use the full movie is because I want to teach my kids that after Joseph Smith received his answer his work was not done.  In fact it was just starting.  Heavenly Father answers our prayers but it is up to us to first listen and recognize the answer and then ACT on that prompting.

I also included some puppets if you prefer to tell the story. Cut and attach to Popsicle sticks.

Answers to Prayer activity.  We are going to talk about some ways Heavenly Father answers our prayers.  Add the pictures during your discussion or a favorite is to hide the pieces and add them to the poster as you find them.  I also included black and white pages for the kids to color.  They can draw the ways Heavenly Father answers their prayers OR draw pictures of  times their prayers or even questions they may have.

The last page goes with James 1:22 "be ye doers of the word..." This goes a little bit with what I said above about needing to act.  This reminded me of a quote we have in our house that I absolutely love "it is in the doing not just the thinking that we accomplish our goals."  I looked up the talk this was from and thought it well with this scripture.  We are going to read the following quote and story and talk about effort and the need to act to progress.
Update: I just added this page to the download.  It goes with the story and quotes above.  The idea is to write or draw a goal on the shoe.  Maybe write a few ways to accomplish the goal.  Encourage your kids to pick something that may be difficult and require some effort.

That's all for this week.  If you have any trouble downloading or have any questions please let me know :)

Come Follow Me: Hebrews 7-13 (November 11-17)

I'm sorry for the unexpected break last week.  I had planned to have something posted before I left but was hit with awful stomach pain the day before I left on my trip.  Luckily it eased up quite a bit before I left.  So I am very sorry about that.  I went on my very first vacation alone in probably forever :)  My sister had a baby and my husband surprised me with a plane ticket to go visit her.  He took care of all of our kids and I had a great time hanging out with family, watching a lot of Halmark, went to Waco, and snuggling an adorable baby :)  It was so much fun but good to be back.

(any other fixer upper fans?!?)

This week we are focusing on Hebrews 11 and faith.  In a letter to the Hebrews Paul teaches the importance of having faith.  Ask your family "What is faith?"  Then read Hebrews 11:1  Breifly share the story of Noah emphasis that that he built an ark even though he could not see any rain.  He had faith.
Watch the video of the song “Build anArk.”   If you would like to learn the words to this song I did include the lyrics and some cute mini posters to help you.  The posters are 4 to a page.  Cut and place in order.

Activity: Grab pillows and blankets and build your own ark in the living room.  As you add a pillow or blanket share a way you can build your faith in Jesus Christ.
Then gather as a family inside your ark.  Search Hebrews 11 for other people mentioned that showed great faith.
What do we learn about faith from Noah? Why do we need to build our faith?

If you don't want to build an ark this match game would also be fun.  After you find a match share a way you can build your faith.
Noah's Ark Animal match game There are 12 cute animals.  Print 2 (preferably on cardstock).  Cut and you are ready to play.

For a little extra fun print out Noah and his boat.  Cut the entrance out.  As the kids find a match let them help the animals board the ark :)

I placed the boat in front of an open box but anything that will hold it up straight will work.

The cards fit perfectly if turned at an angle.
We like to do activities like this during preschool and my kids LOVE it!

That is all for this week.  If you have any questions or trouble with the download please don't hesitate to ask!
