Free Christmas Printables O Come let us Adore Him

I have a couple new FREE printables for you today. I love these and this quote.  Rustic/Farmhouse or chalkboard.  Its hard to decide.  I think Printables make decorating for the holidays so easy and quick. Pretty much the best thing :)  Pick your favorite, print, and frame. They are all sized as 8x10 prints.

  I decided to make things extra easy today.  To get your free printable click on the picture.  Right click and save to your computer or copy and paste in a word document.  Again these are sized to fit an 8x10 frame.  However you can always insert into a word document and resize to fit your needs.

Jesus Christ will Come Again (primary 2 Lesson 43) Primary Lesson Helps

Here are some fun activities to go along with Lesson 43, Jesus Christ will Come Again.  (You can find the lesson here)

Review Activity:  I decided to go with a Christmas theme :)  Print the tree and the sheet of ornaments and question page (optional).  Cut around the ornaments and star.  These go with the 5 questions in the lesson.  I did add some extra ornaments for those with larger classes.  You will need to come up with additional questions for the extra ornaments used.  

Before class hide the ornaments around the room.  Have the kids take turns hunting for them.  When one is found ask the coordinating question.  Once answered correctly glue or tape the ornament to the tree.

 Game & Enrichment Activity Number 3- Share the Parable of the 10 Virgins and quote (included in the download).  Explain that as we follow Christ we are adding drops oil to our lamps and preparing for Christ's return just like the women in the parable.  Play the following game.
Prepare: Print one board (lamp) per person, (black and white , and 2 per page option now included), Print and cut the cards.  Place the cards in a bag and mix them up.  You will also need to bring something to cover the circles ex. m&ms, cereal, or even buttons.

 To play pass out a lamp to each person.  Take turn drawing a card.  If it is a good action "add a drop of oil" to the lamp (cover one of the circles with the candy or item you brought).  If the action is not good then no action is taken and move on the the next turn.  Keep playing until everyone fills their lamps.

For the older classes I included a couple of zap cards.  If you draw this one then you have to clear your board!  There are also a few blank ones in case you want to add some of your own.

Enrichment Activity #4:  And here is a cute coloring page with space to draw a picture of how they can prepare for the second coming.  I did necklaces last week so I thought I would keep it simple.

Here's a cute idea found on Chicken Scratch N Sniff (She also has a really cute coloring page): Have some fun by challenging your class to drop "oil" into their jars. Grab a jar and some clothespins. As each person says one way they can prepare for Christ's second coming, they get to hold one clothespin at their nose and try to drop it into the jar. 

Happy Thanksgiving & primary lesson update.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.  We've been enjoying our time together watching movies, playing games, and eating way to much food.  I just wanted to pop in and let you know how thankful I am for all of you! 
Also I have not finished the next primary lesson yet...I think most of you are at least one or 2 behind.  For those that are not I'm sorry.  I should have it up early next week and the last lesson at the end of the week!  Can you believe it?!?!  I'll post the Christmas lesson the week after.  Enjoy the rest of your holiday weekend :)

The Church of Jesus Christ is on the Earth (Primary 2 Lesson 42) Primary Lesson Helps

I can't believe we are almost out of lessons and before we know it the year will be over!  I'm going to start looking over and getting a feel for the new curriculum and figure out how I'm going to share those lesson helps.  Let me know if you are interested in just primary or ideas to use in your home as well. 

Alright here are some primary lesson helps for Lesson 42 The Church of Jesus Christ is on the earth (found here.)  A big chunk of the lesson is the picture activity-I plan to follow that pretty closely so I did not include anything extra for that.  When I read over this lesson it reminded me of President Nelson's talk this past conference.  I have included a way to use that talk as well.  We will being using that idea for FHE this upcoming week.  I link to that when its up as its posted.

Attention Activity- Here's a map that is used during different parts of the lesson.  Print the page and cut out the pieces at the bottom.  When it talks about the Holy Lands tape the cut out of Jesus to the map.  Same with Joseph Smith.  I also included an image of a house that would be fun to put your location on the map.  Then the hearts are to be used when you discuss where the church is located now.  I placed mine randomly. If you want more precise locations tape your image off to the side a little and draw a line with a star on the exact location.  You can also draw on the map as they are telling you different locations they know.  Here's an example of what the finished map will look like. 

Scripture- a cute poster that can be displayed during the lesson.

Enrichment Activity #1: After you practice the 6th article of faith they can work on this word search.

Enrichment Activity #2: There are a couple of options. 

Coloring page with space to draw a picture of themselves. 

Necklace-Print and cut out.  Let the kids color.  Punch a hole in the top and use some string or yarn to make a necklace.  For a little extra fun bring some fruit loops and let them add "beads" to their necklace.

3rd Coloring Page option.  I thought the older kids might enjoy decorating the letters and display their finished page in their room.

As i mentioned in the beginning this lesson reminded me of President Nelson's General Conference talk.  Then as I opened the friend this month I saw This great page.  I took the wording from the friend and turned it into a game.  To start-if possible read or play some of President Nelson's talk.  I love to use any chance I can to have the children hear the prophet speak. There are a few different spots that would work well.  One suggestion would be after the first list where it says "Joseph Smith did not name the church..." Okay now on to the game. You will need to print the picture of the prophet, the question and answer cards, and the 5 quote bubbles.

Cut the question cards apart.  Mix them up and set them in a pile.

Cut out the Answer cards and glue to the back of the corresponding quote bubble.  

Place the quote bubbles with number side facing outward on a wall or the floor.  Now you are ready to  play.  Have two players stand next to each other (in front of the numbers or across the room...you pick).  Draw a card and read the question, then the number below it.  Have to two people race to find the correct number and slap it.  The first person it hit it wins.  Read the answer on the back and place next to picture of President Nelson.  There is not a question card for number 5.  It is a quote from the talk.  You can have someone pick it up and read it or you can have them race to it as well.

Pumpkin Counting Mat

Here's the next adorable counting mat.  I love making one for each season.  You can find the others here)

This time we have a pumpkin counting mat. Don't you love the tractor?!?

 Print the board and the numbers (0-10 included).  Place one number in the square and add the correct number of pumpkins to the wagon.  For pumpkins you can use pompoms, play-dough, erasers, candy, etc.  To increase the difficulty (& add some extra fine motor practice) add some tongs.

Letter T mini books (free printables)

We love using these mini letter books.  I like to print and use it as a coloring book and we read it all week.  

I also included these cute cards.  I am printing and hanging them on our wall for the week.  I'm planning on making some for each letter.

Color sort turkey (free printable)

This is an easy prep activity that your kids will love...just print and go!  

We used pompoms but you can also use buttons, skittles, dot markers or whatever you have on hand. For younger kids you can even forget about the color matching and use it just a fine motor activity.  in this case you can use anything!  My favorite is something like cheerios or another kind of cereal. For an extra challenge we used our tweezers to pick up the poms but my little guy (he's 3) used his fingers.

T is for Turkey Tracer page

I love teaching with a theme.  It just makes planning so much easier and the kids are excited.  We are working on T is for turkey and Thanksgiving.  Here's a cute worksheet to practice those letter t writing skills.  Bonus it works as a coloring page too!  Watch for more letter t and turkey fun coming.

Jesus Christ is our Savior (Primary 2 lesson 41) Primary Lesson Help

Here are some free primary lesson helps for Lesson 41, Jesus Christ is our Savior (found here).

Scripture story puppets.  These were made to stand on their own. There are two sizes-a large set for teaching purposes and a small set to be used as a coloring page for the children.  They can color and put together their own set to share with their families.    Print (preferably the large one on cardstock), cut around the rectangular base and then as close to the images as you prefer.  Fold the base forward on one side and back on the other side and this should allow them to stand on their own.  For the stone  attach it to the tomb with a brad so you can roll it.

Activity-Set up picture with the numbered paper like suggested in the lesson.  Print and cut out the questions.  Place in a bowl and have the kids take turns drawing a question.  Pull off paper that corresponds with the number.

Enrichment Activity #2: Print the word strips and cut apart.  Place in order and read through once.  Then take off 2 or 3 words and try again.  Keep going until all the words are gone.

I can Forgive Others Primary Lesson Helps (Primary 2 Lesson 40)

My internet was down for several days last week.  Sorry if you were one of those trying to access my mini sacrament book.  So this one is also a little late and I'll be posting the lesson 41 later this week in hopes to catch up. 

So here we go.  Here are some fun primary lesson helps for Lesson 40 I can forgive others.  I really love this lesson, especially the scripture story. 

Attention activity: We are going to act out the scenario.  Bring books and paper (or any other items that can be dropped).  Ask 2 children to help you act out this scenario.  If you have the option of either older kids that can read or an extra teacher in your class-have them go in the hall and quickly plan out how they want to do this.  If this is not an option for you then just help them wing it as  you read the scenario to the class :)

I've included a page to hand to the children/other teacher if you are going to go that route.  Also my class LOVED the action clapper we used a few lessons ago so I included one of those too. 

(The title has been update in this download)  To use print the 2 pages on cardstock and cut.  Attach the top piece with a brad.  Let the kids take turns saying action and cut.

Teacher presentation: I had a few ideas to do this.  First print both pages.  

idea #1-cut around the pattern hearts BUT leave a little bit on the side so it stays connected but becomes like a little door. Glue the paper with the words directly behind it so when you open the little "door hearts" you can see the words.  Have the kids take turns opening the "doors" and read what's behind it.

idea #2.  Leave the pattern heart page as is.  Cut out the hearts with words and hide them around the room.  Have the kids hunt for them and when they are found glue them to the top of the patterned hearts.  

Scripture Story: I chose to use real picture instead of clip art (all images are from lds.org). Each page  has the words from the manual.  These specific words brought the spirit into my heart so strong and I felt that I needed to share them word for word.  I teach the 7 & 8 year olds and will be using these with my class.  However, decide if your class (and age) group will be okay with seeing these pictures.  

In the download there are 4 pages with words for this story.  I've included both full page for each as well as the smaller story cards size that can easily be printed and cut apart.  For the full page you can print them or save some ink and show on your computer or phone.  If there is interest I can also include the jpeg. version that you can have printed at your favorite store. Let me know :)  

Word Strip: Print and display

Story about Kent:  Instead of my usual story cards we are going to do puppets!  Cut around each image and attach to a Popsicle stick.

Discussion and Review activity: Going with the leaf theme I have 3 ideas for this game as well. 

1st idea: Print the leaves and the rake.  (cardstock for the rake).  Cut around the leaves and the rake.  Attach a magnet on the back side of the rake.  Add paperclips only to the leaves with numbers.  Mix and dump the leaves on the table. Have the kids take turns raking up the leaves until they find one that sticks.  Ask the question that corresponds with the number on the leaf. (I'll add some pictures of this in action soon)

2nd idea: Print just the extra page of leaves.  Number them 1-9 (you will need to take off 2 of the questions from the review page).  Place them in a bag and let the kids draw a leaf and ask the question.

3rd idea: Print and cut all of the leaves (not the extra page of leaves) and the rake (2 if you want to make it a race).  Spread them out on the table or floor.  Call out a number between 1 and 11.  Have them quickly find the correct number and slap it with the rake.  Ask the question that goes with the number.  You can add magnets and paper clips for some extra fun.

Alternate coloring page

Enrichment activity 1:  This idea teaches the same concept- For my class I am going to try this paper airplane idea.  Then we are going to decorate and make paper airplanes.  I have a group of 8 year old boys that do not have a lot of interest in any activity.  I'm hoping this will inspire them to listen and participate.
